Fixed Issues in Version 18.2.0.8 Server Patch 5
This Encompass 18.2 June Service Pack (version 18.2.0.8 Server Patch 5) includes updates to users' Encompass client machines and a Server Patch that is applied to the Encompass Server.
Why we fixed these issues: These issues were fixed to improve usability and to help ensure Encompass is operating as expected. The issues were chosen to be fixed based on the severity of its impact to clients and client feedback.
Update to the Encompass Server (i.e., Server Patch 5)
The Encompass 18.2 June Service Pack includes a Server Patch that is applied to the Encompass Server. The Server Patch will be applied to the Encompass Server automatically and cannot be controlled manually via the Encompass Version Manager tool.
Updates have been applied to the Encompass Server to address system slowness and timeouts that occurred for some users when logging into Encompass, accessing the Pipeline, and similar tasks.
In Encompass 18.2, the system was updated to provide a more graceful handling of connection exceptions when administrators are rebuilding the Encompass Reporting Database. This updated process helped to prevent the Encompass Server from crashing when connection exceptions occurred. Previously, users would be disconnected when this occurred, and would be prompted to reconnect. In this Encompass 18.2.0.8 Server Patch 5 release, an additional layer of prevention has been added. The system now monitors each individual connection thread (rather than just the main execution thread) to help prevent the Encompass Server from crashing and disconnecting users when the Encompass Reporting Database is being rebuilt.
Updates to the Encompass Client Machines
The Encompass 18.2 June Service Pack includes the following item, which is a client-side update that is applied to users' Encompass client machines. This client update can be controlled manually via the Encompass Version Manager tool. If the tool has been configured to always apply new releases to users’ computers automatically, users will receive this update upon their initial log in of Encompass following the release.
Encompass clients attempting to run the Performance Meter tool to monitor their systems encountered errors, including the two examples below, and tool was not able to run.
The connection to the server failed with the following error: No messages have been received from the remote host for the specified time period. The connection is considered to be needless or broken.
AND
The Specified Server has an invalid format.
These errors occurred after Ellie Mae upgraded its systems and applications to adhere to current industry security standards and protocols in order to protect our clients’ data and deprecated support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 (Transport Layer Security) and replaced those versions with TLS 1.2 which supports stronger, more secure cipher suites. The Performance Meter tool has been updated to now support TLS 1.2 and clients can now run the tool to monitor their systems without receiving errors.
