UCD Support
The Uniform Closing Dataset (UCD) is a component of the Uniform Mortgage Data Program® (UMDP®), an ongoing effort by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the GSEs) at the direction of their regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), to provide a common industry dataset to support the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) Closing Disclosure (CD). Starting in 2013, the UCD was developed from the CFPB’s Know Before You Owe (KBYO) regulation. In defining the new dataset, the GSEs used all of the field data defined on the Closing Disclosure (CD), along with the addition of a few GSE-specific fields.
UCD Timeline
The GSEs recognize that several necessary updates to Qualified Mortgage (QM) data points in Q1 2022 required industry attention that would otherwise have been focused on preparing for Phase 3. Therefore, we are moving the implementation date for the Phase 3 mandate for UCD Critical Edits to May 1, 2023, and the Phase 4 transition to November 6, 2023.
