Simplifile Document Editing Tools Tip Sheet

IMPORTANT: The purpose of these tools is to ensure that the scanned document accurately reflects the original. Make certain not to alter the contents of the document in any way.

When a document is uploaded into Simplifile, a toolbar is displayed at the top of the document viewer page. These tools can improve the quality of the document image and may help prevent rejections. The toolbar can have a different appearance depending on your computer screen resolution, browser size, and if a recording county restricts the use of certain tools.

Tool Name / Description
Drag / Resize button Drag/Resize ‑ Repositions or resizes the document pages. There are three options: Drag and resize page, Resize to Letter, Resize to Legal.
Rotate button Rotate ‑ Rotates pages 180 degrees. It corrects pages that were scanned upside down without being forced to rescan.
Move Page button Move Page ‑ Changes the order of the document’s pages. This can be used if the pages were scanned out of order or by replacing a specific page with a newer scan.
Despeckle button Despeckle ‑ Used to remove specks not found on the original document.
Deskew button Deskew ‑ Straightens a document that displays at a slight angle due to a misaligned scan.
Magic Wands button Magic Wand ‑ Performs a series of actions to correct common issues, runs the Deskew tool, estimates font size and the position of the main document content, and attempts to align the content within county margins, centering and/or shrinking as needed.
Contrast button Contrast ‑ Adjust the document to display lighter or darker than the original scan. There are two options: Apply contrast to entire page or apply contrast to selected areas on the page.
Margins button Margins ‑ Select to select between Clear County Margins or Clear Print Margins.
Stamps button Stamps ‑ Adds a reference/date stamp or predefined statement to a document. This option is only available when configured by the documents a county (or jurisdiction) .
Text Stamps Text Stamps ‑ Uncommon options to add notes to the body of the document. If the tool is not displayed, the code does not allow the use of text stamps.
Revert to Origianl button Revert to Original ‑ Removes all changes made to the document back to their initial condition at the beginning of current browser session.
Delete button Delete ‑ Removes pages from a document or removes the whole document if uploaded in error.
Extract Pages button Extract Pages ‑ Extracts pages to create a full document or a helper document within the package.
