Updates to the Encompass Client Machines
The Encompass 19.4 Critical Patch 1 includes the following item, which is a client-side update that is applied to users' Encompass client machines. This client update can be controlled manually via the Encompass Version Manager tool. If the tool has been configured to always apply new releases to users’ computers automatically, users will receive this update upon their initial log in of Encompass following the release.
Fixed Issues
Beginning with the Encompass 19.4.0.2 SP2 release, some customers were unable to load Encompass forms due to an error generated by a Microsoft Windows component (DLL) that was not properly registered on some client computers. Beginning with this critical patch, Encompass no longer uses the impacted component and users no longer need to perform the required workaround to register the component on their computers. This issue affected versions 19.4.0.2. It is recommended that you upgrade to version 19.4.0.3 to resolve this issue.
Workaround Information:
The following workaround was provided for this production issue and is no longer required for Encompass 19.4.0.3 and later.
- Add the Windows component to the Microsoft Windows registry for the affected computers as described in knowledge article #KA000018724 in the Encompass Resource Center.
