Feature Enhancements for Encompass Consumer Connect 19.2 May Major Release
This page contains the features and enhancements for Encompass Consumer Connect 19.2 May Major Release.
Introducing Single Sign-On (SSO)
Why we made these updates: This feature allows borrowers to transition seamlessly between their lender's website and the Encompass Consumer Connect borrower portal and loan application using a single set of credentials. When SSO is configured, a borrower can use their existing credentials on a lender website to start an Encompass Consumer Connect loan and to access the Encompass Consumer Connect borrower portal. The borrower is not required to create a separate borrower portal account.
This release introduces SSO for third-party (or non Encompass Consumer Connect) lender websites with borrower widgets. When using SSO with borrower widgets, borrowers who log in to your non Encompass Consumer Connect website will be able to start a new loan application and access the borrower portal without having to log in again or create an Encompass Consumer Connect account.
When SSO is enabled, the borrower is prompted by a trusted third-party identity provider to enter a user name and password for the website. Once the borrower is authenticated, the identity provider grants access to the website and borrower widgets. In the following example, a lender's website prompts a borrower to authenticate using Okta Verify as the identity provider before granting access to the borrower portal:
Who Can Use SSO?
SSO is available on any clean Encompass Consumer Connect instance in your Encompass environment. This means that SSO can be enabled on an Encompass Consumer Connect instance that does not have any existing websites or borrower widgets created.
SSO Setup Overview
The following table describes the high-level tasks for setting up SSO:
Tasks | Notes |
---|---|
Configure your identity provider and set up the connection in Developer Connect |
An Encompass Super Administrator persona is required for this task. Your company's identity provider must be configured with ICE Mortgage Technology settings and the connection must be set up in Developer Connect before SSO can be enabled in Encompass Consumer Connect. For detailed instructions on configuring supported identity providers (Okta, Salesforce, and Microsoft Azure) and setting up the connection in Developer Connect, see Configuring an Identity Provider (IdP) for SSO Using SAML. Accessing Developer Connect requires log in credentials from ICE Mortgage Technology. If you or your developer do not have access to Developer Connect yet, contact your ICE Mortgage Technology Relationship Manager. |
Enable SSO on your Encompass Consumer Connect instance | An Encompass Super Administrator persona is required for this task. After your company's identity provider is configured and the connection is set up in Developer Connect, you can enable SSO from the administration portal. See Enabling SSO on Your Encompass Consumer Connect Instance for detailed instructions. |
Create, design, and publish your SSO-enabled borrower widgets | An Encompass Super Administrator persona is not required for this task. There are several configuration options in the administration portal that will help you add a loan application and/or borrower portal widget to your non-Encompass Consumer Connect site. These configuration options allow you to create SSO-enabled widgets, design the look and feel of them to match your site, and finally generate a code snippet that your developer can add to your site. See Adding SSO Borrower Widgets to Third-Party Lender Websites. |

Administration Portal
With the introduction of SSO in this release, changes have been made to the Encompass Consumer Connect Home page based on the logged in user's persona.
Administrator Persona
When an administrator logs into an Encompass Consumer Connect instance, a couple small changes can be seen on the Home page. The Build a new website and Add borrower widgets buttons have been replaced with Create a website and Add widgets to your existing website links, as shown in the image below. This page is displayed when SSO is not enabled.
This page is displayed when SSO is enabled. The administrator has the ability to add borrower portal and loan application widgets to the existing SSO-enabled website.
Super Administrator Persona
When a Super Administrator logs into an Encompass Consumer Connect instance, the Home page now displays an option to enable or disable single sign-on, as shown below.
Before clicking the Enable Single Sign On link, 1) an identity provider must be configured and 2) a connection must be set up in Developer Connect. Without these two important steps, SSO cannot be enabled successfully. Read Setting Up Single Sign-On (SSO) for Encompass Consumer Connect Borrower Widgets on page 1 for detailed instructions.
Several enhancements have been made to the Website Builder page for SSO-enabled instances. Administrators can use this page to add widgets to an existing website, view SSO status information and connection details, create and copy code snippets, and direct borrower to an SSO website.
SSO Connection Status and Details
The following SSO status information and connection details are provided on Website Builder page. Most of the information displayed here is provided by Developer Connect.
Property | Description |
---|---|
Single Sign-On | Indicates whether SSO is enable or disabled for the Encompass Consumer Connect instance. |
Connection Name | The name of this SSO connection as specified in Developer Connect. |
Connection Status | Indicates whether the connection in Developer Connect has been activated. |
Entity ID | The Entity ID as specified in the Metadata XML file from your Identity Provider that was uploaded to Developer Connect. |
The Services Management page has changed so that each service is now configurable on it's own separate page. Previously, all services were configurable on the Services Management page and lenders viewed service settings by clicking a corresponding drop-down arrow on the page. With this release, each service is now configurable by clicking a corresponding Edit icon .
Clicking the Edit icon opens the settings configuration page for that service. For example, the Payment Service Settings page is shown below. You can return to the Services Management page by clicking the Back to Services Management link located at the top of each settings configuration page.

Website Builder
The Logo URL field has been added to the Website Builder Design page. This field specifies the URL to which site visitors are directed when clicking the logo on the website, loan application, and borrower portal. The URL entered in the Logo URL field gets associated with all three components. If a URL is not provided, the site URL is used by default. For new and existing sites, the default URL is applied automatically.
Note that clicking the logo in the loan application or borrower portal will display the External Web Links security message to the site visitor if the URL points to a site outside of the domain.
When adding a Logo URL, keep the following points in mind:
- The field automatically adds "http://" to the URL if not supplied by the lender.
- If a URL was applied to the logo and then later deleted, the logo will be automatically linked to the default site URL.

An enhancement has been made to the borrower portal design area of the Website Builder. In this release, the Title font and size settings control the Log In title text on the Account Log In page, as well as the borrower portal title text. Previously, the Title font setting only controlled the title text on the borrower portal.

Loan Application and Borrower Portal
A new filtering option has been added to the Rates Results page. When a Product and Pricing service is enabled on an Encompass Consumer Connect site, and two or more Loan Types are returned and shown in the loan application, borrowers are given the option to filter by those Eligible Loan Type(s).
The Eligible Loan Type(s) filtering option will display depending on the loan and rates criteria. The borrower may need to click Show More Programs in order to display enough loan types to filter.
To enable Eligible Loan Type(s) filtering:
-
In the Encompass Consumer Connect Admin portal, go to Services Management.
-
Click the Product and Pricing Settings Edit icon .
-
Ensure that your Product and Pricing service is set up with two or more Loan Types selected. If you do not have a Product and Pricing Service set up yet, see Manage Services on page 1 for instructions.
-
Click Save.
Loan Type filtering is available to all new and existing sites that are configured as described above. If there are any changes made to Loan Types after publishing the site and the borrower resumes their application and/or re-runs rates, the updated settings take effect immediately on the Rates page.

In the Encompass Consumer Connect 18.3 September Service Pack, Phone Type and Phone Number fields were introduced into the Create Account form. It was in this release that the borrower's phone type and phone number became required to create an account. This change was made for authentication and account management purposes. To address this requirement for borrowers who started a loan application or created an account prior to September 2018, borrowers are required provide a phone type and phone number before accessing the borrower portal. In addition, a change has been made to the electronic document authorization code flow. When the borrower clicks the link in the electronic document request email, a Contact Information screen now appears if no phone number has been provided. The Contact Information screen prompts the borrower to provide their phone type and phone number prior to entering the authorization code.
