Promotion Management
Virtual programs are defined with an effective date in the Virtual Program Wizard. After virtual programs have been created and tested, you can promote them to Production in one of two (2) ways:
- Promote via the Virtual Program Versions page
- Promote Management link on the CPM page
All virtual programs must be promoted They are NOT automatically moved to Production on their effective date without being promoted.
- The Effective Date is a required field during the virtual program setup in the Virtual Program Wizard. It can be modified in each individual program using the Virtual Program Definition page under Maintain Virtual Programs.
The Virtual Programs Promotion Management page displays all virtual programs in Test. For easy identification, virtual programs are displayed in red on their effective date if it is still in Test.
The Override Effective Date checkbox enables you to approve multiple virtual programs, is useful when you create multiple virtual programs, override their original effective dates, and set them to the same new effective date.
Virtual programs promoted with back dated effective dates (in the past date) can potentially cause historical pricing issues. We recommend you override the effective dates to the current date or individually promote virtual programs with current effective dates.
To Edit the Effective Date:
- On the Virtual Program Promotion Management page, select the programs you want to edit.
Selecting the virtual program name opens the Virtual Program Versions page.
- Enter a new Effective Date.
- Select the Override Effective Date check box.
- Click Promote.
