SQL Server Setup
Use the SQL Server Setup tool to test the server connection, change
the database password, change server settings, and run a basic diagnostics check.
Note: The Edit button should only be used if you will be using Encompass with your existing instance of SQL Server. Contact Ellie Mae Professional Services before beginning this process.
Open the SQL Server Setup Tool
- On your Windows task bar, click the Start menu or Start icon, navigate to the Ellie Mae Encompass program folder, and then click Admin Tools.
- Double-click SQL Server
Setup.
Test the Connection to the Server
- On the SQL Server Setup tool, click Test.
When the test is complete, a message box
indicates the results. If the test failed, first ensure that the SQL Server
is running, and then retest the connection.
Change the Database Password
To prevent unauthorized or accidental access to your data, you may want
to change the default database password.
- On the SQL Server Setup tool, click Change
Password.
- Type the old (current) password.
The first time you change the password from
the default password that was created during Encompass installation, the
Old Password field will be unavailable.
- Type and re-type the new password.
- Click OK.
Run a Diagnostics Check
- Click the Run Diagnostics button, and then click Yes.
- On the Encompass Database Diagnostics window, review the Database Statistics and Database Health information.
- If the Database Consistency Errors value is NOT 0, your database is corrupt and there is a potential for lost data. Contact Ellie Mae customer support immediately.
- If the Database Fragmentation Value is high, very high, or extreme, it is recommended that you defragment your SQL Database. Click Defragment, and then click Yes.
- Click the Refresh icon to update the Database Health information.
- When finished, click Close.
